Two age-old yellow
bulbs were staring at me hanging from the pale ceiling into a dusty old pear
shaped lamp shade. I kept staring them back, thinking about nothing. Sometimes
I like to do that. Think about nothing, It's one of a kind of pensive thinking.
Women can never understand this lovely concept of ours. They just cannot
believe that if we are sitting expressionless, staring at life less ceiling or
the boring yellow wall, it's not necessary that we are thinking something. Our
brain sometimes just do this. I call it 'the suspended state'. Just like
everything else in the room we pause. Many of us men don’t realize this but
this is one of our most personal and protected moments. Away from all worries
of the next day, away from yet another thought of high maintenance disguise for
pleasing our women and away from worrying about all that we are expected to
achieve in life that we don’t really need. A moment of disconnect from the
mundane world.
And then suddenly this weightless trip is bump stopped when she
comes and asks, 'Honey! what are you thinking??'. Now comes the time to activate those
engineering brain cells and think real fast else the humble question will soon
turn into cold interrogating probes. We have very well learnt from years of
experience that dumbest answer to this question is the truth. So within split seconds our brain makes this
list of ridiculously useless stuff that
we could be thinking about that might sound important to our women. And with no
further ado, I said the top sorted answer in the stack , "Well Honey! I
was just thinking about paying this months VISA Card Bills in advance so that I
don’t forget it like last time." "Good! You are learning with
experience."
"Yes I
am!" I said and smiled. There, I saved an hour.
